keeper of chaotic and unfinisHed memory
YSL—pronounced like easel—is both name and purpose: a vessel for cities to be seen, felt, and reimagined.
Based between the lyrical architecture of Montpellier and the cities YSL sketches into memory, this visual poet moves between translucent watercolor landscapes and emotionally charged figures. Known for capturing both the soul of a place and the echo of a person, YSL’s work bridges architecture and anatomy, motion and memory.
From the layered transparency of cityscapes to the tangled intimacy of scribbled portraits, YSL’s compositions oscillate from control to chaos with mad disintegration in between—offering visual meditations on time, presence, and lost stories. These abstract expressionist drawings—formed from chaotic loops, scratches, and breathless ink—reveal emotional truth through every imperfection and absence.
Equal parts flâneur, chronicler, and sketch-driven storyteller, YSL draws from travel, chance encounters, and urban decay to build a body of work that feels both spontaneous and eternal.
